Peta states that they have built and delivered as many as 571 doghouses "IN POOR COMMUNITIES NEAR THEIR NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS." Well, that is 571 new dog houses that have been handed out in what is likely a 2 hour radius from Norfolk Virginia and the nearby area of North Carolina. How much education do you think would that have gone to paying for?

")%> <% response.write("

If you take into consideration their estimated cost per dog house of $205, PETA spent some $117,055 on building dog houses that year. At a conservative estimate of around $500 per billboard, you can see that would have paid for no less than 234 educational billboards for that actual area in only ONE year. It doesn't need a freat intellect to see that this would have saturated this area with full on education. The repeated message here would have convinced in excess of 571 people that they should never chain their dog up again. To my way of thinking, that would have been a massive $117,055 that was well spent.

Alternatively, how much spaying/neutering would that have gone to paying for? Here yo can see that given the estimated $117,055, taking a general clinic cost of around $50 each, This money could have paid for spaying/neutering as many as 2341 dogs in that small area. In just one year, there would be few dogs left to chain.
